went to town this morning to get my hair cut, got it cut somewhat shorter than before. i like it - it's essentially the same shape, but subtly different with more layers and graduations. the salon was in far east plaza, so i trotted along to sunny afterwards to look for a good plane book. i haven't been to sunny for years! didn't have time to take a proper look because poach was on her way to cineleisure to meet me, but in my short allotment of time i picked up the science of discworld and a boxed set of the time quartet. i was looking for patricia a. mckillip's riddle master of hed and the new pratchett (the amazing maurice and his educated rodents) but was in too much of a hurry to give close scrutiny to each shelf, also passed the essential c.s. lewis and a anne of green gables set (in puffin classics). later that day i got margery williams's the velveteen rabbit at kino. i love her definition of "Real"! saw goldmember with su-lin, poach, and poach's friend geoffery pakiam, who turned out to be connected to me in a complicated way which would be too convoluted to explain here. the movie was rather funny but i didn't think it had any real plot compared to the last one. i love the beginning though, with the tom cruise / gwyneth paltrow / kevin spacey / steven spielberg cameos. tom cruise as austin really really cracked me up. especially since i'd just seen minority report a few weeks back. there are quite a number of movies left that i still want to see, my big fat greek wedding being one of them, and importance of being earnest, but i checked the sq listings and they're both showing on my way back to school, so i'll wait. su-lin says i must see road to perdition because of jude law, who i do NOT think is breathtakingly goodlooking, so there! i will be just in time to catch possession when i get back to school. in fact, i think i'll spend the first week of classes going to the movies. jeremy northam is mr ash, and the actress playing christabel is the one who was in sweet and lowdown, with the very sweet face.
