ARGH! the caterpillars are positively devouring my herb garden! i'd supposed that plants like basil would be too pungent for caterpillars to fancy (they usually go for hibiscus and wild cinnamon don't they?) they're tiny, about a centimetre long, and a milky white with black markings, about four to a leaf and shredding my plants at monstrous speed. i sprayed the plants with a dilute solution of dishwashing detergent and plucked off all the leaves that were already afflicted (enough to make several curries, i shold think) and washed off the caterpillars and their eggs/droppings but they're bound to come back. what'd prey on a caterpillar, do you suppose?
