sixteen elegant calla lilies arch from two vases in my bedroom. tall, sculpted, possessed. i've never noticed the fragrance of calla lilies before - i've never thought of them as flowers with fragrance - but holding them in my arms a delicate scent floated up -

one can hardly be unmoved by such lovely blooms. one can hardly be unmoved by such a gallant gift.
