i go to the lab to print peter baker's magic sheet of old english endings and what the printer spat at me was a note that i'm overdrawn on my printing budget by 15cents. and i think this is absurd this is only the second time i've been to the computer lab and the last time printed a mere three sheets so how could i have exceeded my printing budget, which incidentally i didn't know i had to start with, printing in uva labs being free up to 500pages. i look up printing budgets and find i had none to begin with, the 15cents was incurred for the last three sheets, and that i would have to add money with a credit card. i do this grudgingly, and then find i have to wait half an hour for the sum to be credited to my account. i think this is incredibly stupid i should have term billed it, and in anycase there is no use in sitting around for another 30 minutes, and i go off clutching the overdrawn notice and wondering why, if charging for printing is meant to prevent wastage, the system could not simply display a message on screen showing that you have inadequate funds and asking you to top-up, instead of actually printing out a bill which is certainly a waste of paper and ink and, from their point of view, an uncharged sheet of printing!

also it is true you aren't allowed to install a wireless access point in your room the penalty of which is instant termination of account.

and on top of all that i suspect i must have done something incredibly imbecile yesterday like reset my account permissions on unix so now i can't login to my own home directory so i'll have to go around with a floppy like a complete suaku or else email attachments to myself.
