so we got up early and went to the haymarket, where i simply can't get used to how rude the vendors are, or how low the prices: apples were 6 for a dollar, nectarines: 4 for a dollar. for a dollar you can also get 6 pears, 7 kiwis, or 8 peaches. box of 8-9 mangoes for $4-5, raspberries 99cents per box, strawberries $3 for 2 boxes, and an entire watermelon for $2. just two days ago i saw that outside the holyoke centre roses are going for $10 for a dozen. at the haymarket, they were $5 for two dozens. afterwards, basking on some plaza steps across the street, eating a sweet apple newly-bought, and feeling the morning sun on my back, i thought that perhaps i was already finding small happiness in the city.
