i came in from von's at ten this morning at, after breakfasting at the science centre cafe on my way home. the previous night i had retrieved von from his recruiting fair (he wants to turn out marshmallows for general mills, which will take the numinousness out of julian's life all right) and hauled him home so that i could watch will and grace. we ended up also watching the apprentice after that, and then he worked on his job applications and i finished reading both volumes of robert aickman's collected strange stories and went to sleep at his place again. i think i will leave a hairbrush and toothbrush and many teabags there if this is going to become a habit. i am plotting to steal von's very nice steely-olive-brown haberdasher pants ($25 at haberdasher at paragon, he tells me) after all, i say to him, he says it is a tiny bit small for him, which means they don't fit him so perfectly, and may mean i might just possibly fit them, just possibly, so why not let me have them? the force of that argument was rather lost, i feel, for i had just complained of his sweater (the one i had stolen) the night before, explaining that his sweater could not possibly fit me well, since men and women are fundamentally different shapes and clothes need to be nipped in and let out in different places. von had said then that we're the same size. is that right? i'm taller than he is. on the other hand men's clothes are made bigger, and he is of a small build for a guy and i'm gigantic for a girl, so it all works out. i will work on those haberdashers. ponder is still in von's room, but next monday dudley house (where i eat) is closed for columbus day, so we're told to dine interhouse. i shall go and eat at dunster and get ponder at the same time. and now having whiled the entire day away i go to do laundry and read some eco for class.
