as i said to von, i am a soppy ninny and a wet hen. i kept tearing at bits of commencement even though i'm sure it's just kitsch. but oh, all those splendid! young! brave! proud! brilliant! students of harvard college who now have joined the fellowship of educated women and men! 1641 of them going out into the wide world - "depart better to serve thy country and thy kind" - and our own young joanna and darryl all grown up ! oh dear oh dear oh dear.
