went downtown at 7.30 this morning for breakfast at nook. place filled with young girls with sashes and tiaras. i asked what was going on, they said, the dogwood festival parade. i am astonished. i never knew we had a dogwood festival parade. pity the weather is so mucky. it's been mucky every time there's a saturday event, like how the day of the ten-miler was too. and today is also the day of the foxfield races. hmm.

not really a day for walking, but i did want to walk this morning. petted a big brown dog and nodded to a dozen joggers on the way. i wonder if there's some sort of race coming up. they look less like the usual morning joggers than people on a training regime. hm. hm.

had dinner with the singaporeans and indonesians last night at saigon cafe. i'd last eaten there during springbreak, when bob and i went chair hunting at circa. i also remember that when i was a first year, the very first singaporean welcome dinner was at saigon, and now, my farewell dinner with the singaporeans, is also at saigon. jared says things come full circle. i wasn't half in the mood to go, truth be told, being very wet and very annoyed just before, and also extremely tired really just wanting to get into bed. funny how you seem to need days of sleep after just to make up for one or two all-nighters. it was a noisy affair, although i did get to sit quietly with fei, jared and liping, and all things considered it wasn't bad.

afterwards fei said, that was your last one, minz.

if i don't get into grad school here i don't know what i'd do.
