had choonping been there, he would most certainly have thrown a tantrum. i knew one was bubbling in me, only we were in company. darryl takes us to this teochew restaurant he had googled, and i had been goggly-eyed all day in expectation, but it turned to to be run by cantonese people who didn't speak teochew. the menu was mostly cantonese transliteration, there were only a few token teochew dishes on the menu, and you would only have known that because they began with "chao2 shi4", and that included chao2 shi4 gu lu rou, which is most certainly not teochew. i mean: no fish maw, no goose, no cold crab, no hey chor or kwa huey, no cheonh herr. exactly what was teochew about it i do not know. and what was most outrageous was: there was no ornee. when i think of choonping and swa garden i could bawl.
