drapery for my room:

ideally, i would have sheer green sari-style gold threaded organza panels for my window, and semi-sheer polished cotton or silk drapes to pull over that. i have coarse cotton opaque sage green curtains for the bathroom entrance, and i am now looking for velvet drapes for the door. after i put down bamboo rugs i found that i could no longer shut my door, as there isn't a sufficient gap under my door. being an impractical person i decided i'd rather have the rug than a door that shuts. i am using the bathroom door curtain over my room door for now, but although it is opaque it is also light, and billows when the wind comes through. i want heavy drapes that would hang straight, with lots of folds. i am not particularly fond of soft material like velvet or cord or suede - i like polished, crisp material - linen, thai silk, cotton - but i suppose i'll have to get the velvet - none of the fabrics i like will hang heavily. who wants to go textile shopping at arab street with me when i come home?
