now that i've got su-lin hooked on guardian books quizzes (i had a hard time of it getting through it all - can't resist taking quizzes!!!) and gleeful that i've dragged her down with me on this workless saturday, i shall grumble that i have just learnt (from guardian book page) that tyromancy is the art of divination using cheese.

remember how, in our first year, su-lin wrote a mail about the fridges in york's resident halls? how choonping insisted it was her lack of culinary ability that cause his requested hardboiled egg (to eat with tauyou pork) to turn out soft-boiled, even though su-lin swore it had been in the pot for ages? and then when she tried to crack one into a pan she realised why. the fridges were so powerful that her eggs had been frozen solid. i'm sure my fridge doesn't compare but, i'm beginning to think that if, after having placed an egg in boiling water for at least 10 minutes (which is way more than necessary for a soft boiled egg), and when i crack the damn thing it's still liquid?! then it is either my fridge that is way too cold for its own good, or some kind of mutant egg i have got, laid by a fire-resistant hen. this is just the sort of thing that makes von lose faith in my cooking, and von has indeed hurt my feelings because he doesn't want me to cook for him. we'll eat out, he says v decisively. *wounded*
