remember richard flanagan's astonishing gould's book of fish: a novel in twelve fish, of which i had made much months ago? i have found the perfect complement to that book in fish tales: stories from the sea, edited by john miller and containing twelve stories and poems by such luminaries as italo calvino, elizabeth bishop, samuel beckett, robert penn warren and hans christian anderson. if nothing else the fish drawings by william home lizars are surely most uncanny.
