*sadly* i am too big to go on any rides at the funfair behind hougang mall. so while sarah and ariel went on the mini ferris wheel and the flying helicopter and the carousel and the safari train i decided to look in at the pasar malam instead. i've forgotten how pasar malams are so filled with things to eat! fried tapioca cakes (3 for a dollar) and taiwanese sausages and peanut kuehs and goreng pisang and bright coloured drinks. i've never before seen a pandan-waffle-wrapped hotdog (on sticks, sort of like an american corn dog, but with the neighbourhood confectionary type pandan waffle built around.the dog.) and in passing why is it if it is in a bun it is called a hot dog but when it's wrapped in something else, say a pancake, it is a pig (in a blanket?) then i looked at long skirts and kimono tops and handbags and shoes and potted plants (there was a gorgeous african violet i thought of buying) and toy cars and negligees (sweet pink with floral embroidery) and watches and chokers and vcds and bought haw flakes and came home...
