the dutch literature in alderman library runs across several shelves. the english-translated dutch literature in clemons library, on the other hand, takes up exactly two-thirds of a single shelf. i am a little embarrassed to say that approximately half of those english translations are currently in my room. i do not think that there will be time to read them all, especially when exams are not even over, and i don't even think i want to read them all, but being surrounded by them able to choose and to move from book to book is extremely pleasant.

and i took out nooteboom's all souls day again. i might enjoy it more this time. and anyway, there was was something in it about kant and giraffes that i wanted.
