goblet of fire 2:

  • neville is coming into his own isn't he. all that hidden talent at dancing (definitely not stepping on ginny's toes!) and actually getting in the next morning. he'll be quite believable as the "other boy" when they get to the DA and the prophecy in the next few movies.
  • gambon dumbledore inferior to harris dumbledore. this becomes more apparent with every movie as dumbledore becomes more and more complex and tired in the books but more and more undignified in the movies.
  • miranda richardson is wicked and minxy and manipulative and you could half see the beetle in her! quick quotes quill! "the ghosts of his past!"
  • moody very good but not quite as disfigured as the books give you to believe. occasionally very funny looking a little like a schoolboy caught out when mcgonagall berates him for malfoy ferret incident.
  • patil twins saying hi harry all the time, though wasn't that supposed to be lavender brown who's always arm in arm with parvati?
  • hagrid's ghastly red flower! reminds me a bit of psmith and the chrysanthemum in his buttonhole and hiding behind cabbages.
  • dancing lessons! poor ron, absolutely terrified of mcgonagall's waist. pity no fred and angelina dancing vigorously and everyone else keeping wide berth.
  • crouch sr doesn't get to show his cruel side, feel terrbly sorry for him really. crouch jr, "hello father." 12 o.w.l.s, how clever. goes one better than percy no? or did percy have 12 too?
  • fleur is not part-veela. not icy haughty enough, not the snow queen. that might be the fault of the movie people - they simply don't do her justice and she's not nearly on screen enough.
  • i really think the theme music is becoming better and better in its darkest yet incarnation.
  • and finally, ERIC SYKES! how did they ever think of asking him? to think, eric sykes! *worshipful attitude.*
