haven't been here for nearly a week. a little moody, and mostly quite tired. while i was gone i have seen:

a) action theatre's mammon inc, which was highly amusing and said certain things that struck a chord deep down in many of us, and tan kheng hua was a riot. but there isn't much by way of insights, as yeen teck put it, what's there that you didn't already know? it was pretty good, but i came to it expecting perspective, some alternatives, something that would challenge ourselves, but it was tame, and too much of a "happy" ending. afterwards we were lingering in jubilee hall and channel five tried to get interviews, seeing us there in a bulging group, but we immediately and literally fled the moment the woman said "may i..." it was rather rude on reflection, but camera shy lah, what to do?

b) compagnie marie chouinard, with joel. i think i much preferred the earlier piece, les 24 preludes, than the main work, le cri du monde. i think enjoy is the wrong word for the performance; anyway, i didn't enjoy it. it's not meant to be enjoyable. i think it strained me emotionally.

c) gosford park, with minyin, because if i put it off any longer someone will spoil it for me. very very good. i kept thinking of hong lou meng when i was watching it too. hey, would anyone believe me if i said i wanted to see bend it like beckham? i saw the trailer on the bus twice. couldn't hear very well, but it seemed quite funny. incid what do people feel about tvmobile? i used to hate it when it first started, and most of the time i'm on i get rubbish like 3pm ah-soh type entertainment shows, or cooking shows, but i don't mind the news, or the cartoons (there's this one with a very endearing little dog what is it? poochini? or something). once they showed under one roof from a really old season. anyway the thing is two days ago i found myself on a bus to toa payoh without a book, and they were showing some old tcs drama with john hong in, about rickshaw pullers, one of those pioneers-in-nanyang type shows, and i was quite absorbed and forgot to get off the bus. and then last night i was stuck in a impossible jam all the way on CTE, and i thought i wasn't going to make it home for the korea-germany match, but it came on on tvmobile. the darlings.
