the 4/11-ers still haven't called. this is very strange, because when they called at 3 i was under the impression they were approaching boston or perhaps even already in boston and looking for their hotel. i told them to call again after they had checked in, and nipped out to feed dorothea. i expected the second call around 4.30 or so, if not earlier, but no call came. i wait till 5 and wonder if they had called during the 40 minutes i was gone to feed the cat. at 6 i called liangfen's cellphone, but no one answered. and now it is coming to 9.30 and not a ring still. i shall give them up for lost and stay in and do some work tonight and if they call tell them i'll meet them tomorrow instead. then i remember they're leaving tomorrow at 3pm. why would anyone drive up from new york to arrive in the late afternoon, when everything is closed or closing, and when it is dark so quickly, only to leave at 3pm the next day? what could they possibly hope to see? why not spend the extra two days in new york city - which would certainly afford them more than enough things to do and sights to see. it all seems like a massive waste of petrol and money to me, but it isn't my money. oh well. i shall go change into more comfortable things and do some reading. it is just as well. i'm not really fit company these days anyway.
