minyin sent me this list of motivational phrases from a handout she got during her psychiatry rotation. i've kept the ones that apply to me and might help and am putting it here so i can look at it whenever i get in a state. funny how trite they all sound and yet really does help too, when you try to believe in them.

i do like the last one, even if it is from the doorway school of thought.


- This may be upsetting, but I know how to cope
- What is it that I have to do? 
- Try not to take this too seriously
- Don't let negative thoughts creep in, just think rationally
- don't worry, worrying won't help anything
- take it step by step, no need to rush
- i can only do my best
- i can get help if i need it
- if i don't think about fear i won't be afraid
- if i feel tense, i'll take a breather and relax
- it's okay to make mistakes
- getting upset won't help
- i'll keep my mind right on the task at hand
- time to take a deep breath
- it will be over shortly
- it's not the worse thing that can happen, i've survived worse than this
- i'll get better at this as i get more practice
- dont' take it personally
- it could have been a lot worse
- wait until i tell ___ abt how well i did!
