so we asked darryl's friends, mihaela and mikhal, to dinner last night.

menu by chef darryl wee

ponzu poured over slices of steamed monk fish liver

potato croquettes with minced pork and chopped apple filling, served with lime mayonnaise.

edamame salad with roasted walnuts and crispy chicken floss.

oden (some debate over what should go in ours, darryl scoffing prepacked ingredients, but finally we ended up with carrots, daikon, assortment of fish cakes, quails' eggs (yay!) kelp and mushrooms, simmered for ages in a stock that darryl was very worried about but turned out very well after all.) lots of mustard sauce for dipping.

the remainder of the mince pork which had not been used in the croquettes, stirfried with japanese seasoning and spices.

accompanied by rice and a great deal (four litres to be precise) of green tea (a blend of the tealuxe strawberry sencha and some of my own sencha with matcha powder)

and then some lemon almond cake at the end.
