darryl says i must not use the expression "pots of gold" because it is "archaic and hyperbolic." people do not keep gold in pots, (not even at the end of rainbows?) and anyway gold is the wrong currency for nowadays. but what does he want me to say, she inquires crossly, ziggurats of dollar bills? also, you can say "pots!" loudly and accusingly to von, whereas you can't about bullions hidden under the mattress or floorboards or in a bankvault.

i wish julian hasn't gone off to cambodia for the week. julian was the man who substituted my "cross as two sticks" (no doubt darryl would think that old-fashioned too!) for "cross as asparagus." i'm sure he'll help me out of this one.
