i usually feel rather doubtful about ian carmichael (after you know, he'd gone and played both radio and tv peter, plus all the movies i'd seen him in before (the school for scoundrels and i'm all right, jack: silly asses in film don't do it for me.) but for the last few weeks i have been enjoying the small, intricate life of gerald c. potter. (what a wonderful name for a series!) gerald is a crime writer on the cusp of success and diana, his wife, is a romantic novelist, or "a lady novelist", writing under the inglorious and incongruous name of magnolia badminton. (played, i might add, by charlotte mitchell - who could forget her goon show forays?) rather wodehousian dialogue but much gentler, the silly ass toned down, and the plot meandering, at once everyday and absurd, and - oh gosh - i know what this is like - it's su-lin's blog! think su-lin's blog as a sort of radio chronicles and this is what you get.
