i don't know why i'm so terribly amused by the graduation instructions sent us by the english department, but one of the things we have to do is to mail them a form with our correctly spelt name and indicate its correct pronunciation, including which syllables to stress, to the director of undergraduate studies, so that he can read it right on the day. i find this very funny because i don't see how anyone would get it right anyway, and besides i haven't the faintest idea how to represent the sound "zhi" in any kind of english approximation, so they can go ahead and call me min, or by whatever misguided name they want to call me. hehe.
