oh and i went to a foot reflexology session at centrepoint today - remember i made a fuss about telepoint and the mess they made of delivering my new phone? as part of the compensation deal they gave me a massage or foot reflexology voucher so i thought i'd go check out this place. it's part of a small chain - and the centrepoint outlet i went to was small, though comfortable and quite pleasant - i put away my shoes in a cabinet in the reception room and was ushered through to a room with 10 wide, comfortable pale green sofa seats - soft lights and quiet music. most of the masseurs are blind, and friendly. mine was an old chinese man maybe in his early 60s? hoary and benign was my first impression - he didn't chat, as some of the others were doing, though that suited me fine - i could lean back and close my eyes - though i liked watching him - he worked slowly, with a fiercely intent expression. did i feel magically better afterwards? not really. it was relaxing, though not especially luxurious or pampering - you don't feel you're indulging yourself exactly - it feels more of a straighforward, fuss free but pleasant routine. i liked that in the middle of orchard there were quiet rooms like this where you can lie back and be cut off from the outside world for a while, though afterwards the ache from last night's ballet lesson remained. i would want to go back again though - for a back massage next time. oh i asked and they do foot reflexology parties too - if you brought 10 friends you could book the whole place for $280, and refreshments are provided.
