i woke up with racking desire for chocolate that just would not be succoured by any sort of substitute. i haven't gone near the stuff for ages but the viciously good chocolate cake which i had more than a week ago and which on hindsight had merely been biding its time roared in its full potency at me as i opened my eyes and an overwhelming lust for chocolate came upon me. how is it there is no place where you can go out for cake here? memories of the chocolate opera cake at coffee club express and choc-a-block cake at big apple make me shudder with a combination of indignation and terror. i wandered lonely in the aisles of the nearest supermarket until i found a bar of dark tolberone, which was some good. but it cost twice as much as it does at home. why does chocolate costs so much more here than at home? i don't mean mars bars, nor do i mean fancy chocolate, just plain ordinary chocolate you can get in a supermarket. has anyone gone into a supermarket here and looked at, say, a box of ferrero rochers? kinder buenos? (one of poach's and my favourites) after eights? it's outrageous! (speaking of after eights. they cost about three times as much in singapore than in england. when i grow up i shall campaign for the reasonable international pricing of chocolate) in the meantime i should form the dark ribbon society for chocoholic cases.
