persuaded by sundry folke to stop being so damn ridiculous about my rose cuttings, i have planted them in a pot and put them out in the back garden (next to the parent plant) and have quit hovering above it day and night. i've also cut more stems from the parent rose and stuck them in two separate jars - one with gel and the other water with fertiliser sprinkled in (it's a comparative study) and i hope, really hope, that they will root and be ready for potting before i go away again. my dad and i are also going to dig a small trench along the fence and move some of the larger potted plants to the ground. we've got an odd sort of orange orchid and a (we are told) medicinal plant with bright purple flowers and an old lime tree to move.
