i have engaged myself and minyin to take my niece to see brother bear tomorrow, for she has been trying to get someone to take her for more than a month, and this is the tuesday before school reopens, and the movie is nearly at the end of its run. minyin is highly sceptical about this enterprise, because she says that
    a) children are unpredictable and four is rather young
    b) therefore something is bound to happen
    c) if my niece makes noise during the movie she (minyin) is going to haul her out.

moreover, she cannot imagine me taking any young child out, since

    a) she is barely getting used to the idea that i am so taken with my niece and nephew
    b) i am hardly the aunt-ly type
    c) i have never taken a kid out on my own before. ("she must be a really well-behaved kid if your cousin is letting YOU take her out")
additionally, she pointed out, the idea is hilarious because
    a) it's intrinsically incongruous
    b) i am prone to involving myself in alarming and amusing incidents, whether or not i have a kid in tow
    c) having a kid with us will increase the likelihood threefold.

so, boys and girls, we shall see.
