my father tells me that at the chinatown nightmarket there is an austrian sausage stand. it is called "the last sausage kiosk before the equator."

speaking of things austrian and the south bridge area, i walked past wiener kaffeehaus on neil road today, on my way from the guotie place to sgh (to get some anti-malarial tablets.) it's the location for the goethe institut monthly get-together, which is how i first heard about it, but have since read about it on a few food blogs and been told by des (who had been) that the coffee was good but the sacher torte not so. i liked the look of the place and it was at such a lovely location, at the corner of cantonment and neil road (but i think anything in the neil road/duxton area is lovely - although that poem quite put me off the name ang siang hill for a long time) it was crowded though, and i hadn't a particularly compelling book on me (to last sgh as well as coffee, but i could easily go back another day (it's on the nel and practically across the road from sgh.)
