it's about one in the morning and i was doing well with the readings until 10 when yen and i started talking night watch. (what i really said was, hey yen, i don't want to do my readings, let's talk night watch for half an hour. and she said, yes!) now i'm remembering that i have to write a short paper by noon and increasingly grumpy that the only thing to eat in here, besides the butterleaves, are apples, five of which i've consumed in a row tonight. what i wouldn't do for some hainanese curry, or jalan kayu prata, or just a late night beef horfun at the zichar stall. the rain stopped for a while, but now it's starting again. poach went to bed at about 1, but it's only 10 on the west coast, and minyin came on in australia a few moments later, when she came home from the lab. and no doubt in a few hours the singapore people will be on. oh happiness. the person who's up late can always find other people to distract oneself from work.
