old english word of the day:

remember thrones, dominations? and the lovely bit where harriet says to peter: "let's not divide the lusts of the flesh from heart and mind. and lusts are only joys, it's just the anglo-saxon word for joy." i was wondering when i would come across a form of the word in my readings, and i did yesterday, in "the husband's message." lustum, which baker tells me is the adverb for "with pleasure." there you are. when i get to this week's translations i shall look up other associated forms in the dictionary.
