heaven knows, i do not like schoolchildren, and the thought of a hundred thousand of them let loose upon us from now till july is barely tolerable. the consolation is that whenever they're on holiday the library doubles its loan limits, and a good thing too, with that coriolanian mob on the streets i'd better be indoors and well-stocked with books. anyway i'm going on holiday for 10 days starting next week, so i need plane books.

appendix: list of books that sound like they could be interesting, and to be investigated:

Goce Smilevski - Conversation with Spinoza
Andrea Canobbio - The Natural Disorder of Things
Per Petterson - In the Wake
Florian Zeller - The Fascination of Evil
Victor Pelevin - A Werewolf Problem in Central Russia
László Krasznahorkai - The Melancholy of Resistance
Beverly Birch - Rift (Y)

there appears to be just ONE copy of most of these and they're all in victoria street library. if anyone takes them out before i go on tuesday there shall be unappeasable BLOODSHED.
