who's maria valtorta? my pater told me to find him, if possible, inexpensive copies of the second and third volume of her poem of the man-god. is it banned or what? anyway it's out of print and all of them that i can see on the used book networks are hideously expensive. has anyone ever read parts of it? pater has three (of five) volumes and told me some of this is also in vera brittain's testament of youth which he is always trying to get me to read and i put on my reading list but i do find myself trying to avoid what he reads at least we get on very well over wodehouse and cecil and tennyson but when it comes to anything remotely religious in nature i always turn away from it. (narnia's a different story. so's thomas merton. well, milton. erm. okay! so i'm not bloody consistent, okay? biblical's different from you know, spiritual-exhortionary. so there).

i think i've gone mad, by the way. i just bought a whole bunch of books (now! 4 weeks before going home!) because i couldn't resist the prices (oh come on, the blue flower for $2.44! hardcover nightwatch for $3.60!) that i am completely broke on account of the shipping which cost more than the books. i only meant to look for o.b. hardison's medieval lit crit, honestly! that was the only reason i was looking around... and now financial ruin descends.
