darryl and I had a lunch of yum nuer and pan-fried pork in an assam-based (i think) sauce at tamarind house. (darryl: i'm such a cantabrigan! people recognise me in restaurants! and we're still eating on mass ave!* (*this is getting to be a bit of a catchphrase with us. it's a porter square neighbourhood association initative for for west cambridge/somerville residents to shop and eat local (i.e. along the stretch of mass ave where the numbers are larger thatn 1600) - we've got these little pretty pocket-sized fold-out maps that show you all the shops and eateries along the way))

discussion continues on von's model of happiness. darryl says that we have to subdivide von's smart and Smart into willing/unwilling, ironic/non-ironic - so perhaps the modified model, at the moment, should look something like:

Smart → sell out   willing → ironic → Von

Smart → sell out → willing → non-ironic → Clarence Cai (by Darryl’s description), Poach possibly.

Smart → sell out → non-willing (e.g. bonded) → ironic  most of our set

Smart → sell out → non-willing (e.g. bonded) → non-ironic → i dunno, maybe e-ching?

Smart → edge → willing → non-ironic → John Pates?

Smart → edge → willing → ironic → Minz

Smart → edge → non-willing → non-ironic → [not sure how to define the category]

Smart → edge → non-willing → ironic → [ditto.]

(i’ll have to talk to von again to find out if the lowercase smart defaults to sell-out, or can they be ironic/non-ironic about it.)

all of this is from a very typical humanz perspective. what do the cornell engineers think of us, i wonder, if asked to map us out.
