some really good children's literature sites:

  • international children's digital library where you can search for e-texts of children's books in 20 languages. (chinese, alas, is not one of them.)

  • the horn book, a boston publisher of journals and reviews of children's literature.

  • children's literature navigator - see for yourself, exhaustive!

  • digital editions of over 100 19th century school books

  • marvels and tales journal of fairy-tale studies

  • the playful antiquarian, the blog of a curatorial assistant at harvard law school library's special collections department. she is also studying for a library science degree and hopes to be a rare children's books bibliographer! how marvellous. i would very much like to get in touch with her and ask her to have tea with me. she's also graduating from grad school this may, so i'd better hurry. i'm not good at accosting strangers on the web though - i know my blog lurkers occasionally come out and write to me sometimes - and i never write back, and it's not because i want to be rude - i appreciate hearing from people but once i do feel incredibly paiseh and hide away instead.

  • and because this is me doing the bookmarking, here are more than a hundred hypertext editions of 19th century translations of the stories of hans christian andersen
