my aunt is a magnificent woman. we just came from a family lunch, where there was a giant honey glazed ham (very sweet and juicy), something huge and mysteriously-shaped which turned out to be a whole grilled pork knuckle (astoundingly good), a huge side of very tender, simply knockout beef (OOF), and several kinds of large sausages. also sliced apples and orange portions and asparagus and brussel sprouts and carrots and buckets of mashed potatoes and large pretzels and buns and champagne and huge amounts of lager from paulaner brauhaus and after the whole thing, pie or ice-cream or cake, and this is the first time i've tried ice wine - the colour was such a deep amber i was surprised - and it was golden-silky and the memory of sweetest fruits of the world and suddenly i thought to myself ambrosial.
