we should all make lists like this:

"Health and loved ones and peace and happiness and rest and sleep and warm meals and good conversation and books to read, travel, laughter, pen and paper and index cards, a university library, a meaningful career, touch, letters and postcards, nice glassware, plants, organised drawers lined with tissue, learning new skills, fruits every day, lots of tea, almonds and pecans and walnuts and peanuts, pretty Stila eyeshadow, a change of seasons now and then, music to listen to, sunny smelling laundry, time to myself, warm golden lights and candles, smelling good, colour-coded files, swimming, running shoes, fluffy towels, tofu and rice and watercress and seaweed and more tofu and dimsum and scallops and warm chocolate cake and rendang and laksa and dumplings and jiaozi and gelato and crabs and salmon, shelves, occasional champagne, fireworks about three times a year would be good, high windows, a silk comforter, sleek cats in the garden, steady investment returns, a pink handbag, body lotion, enough money to buy pretty dresses and take my parents out to restaurants, no geckos please."

(though i don't mind geckos, i miss them when i'm here.)
