a good girl, i read franny and zooey like bob told me to, but i am not impressed. i don't think salinger speaks to me at all. it was easy-reading, and fairly interesting, but nothing that would make one of my top hundred books. i think it tells me more about bob, in the way all books that we hold to ourselves religiously are (remember winterson saying that many relationships are made or broken on the strength of a [book]spine?) although not that much either. i think you had to have started younger to think it a revelation. and it seemed a little preachy too. on the whole, now, it's boring to be and to be reading about twenty-somethings. somehow, i only like to read about people twice my age, or else half mine.
